Why is my old, usually aloof cat suddenly so clingy and needy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 10 years and 11 months old | 23 lbs

Texas is older, we understand that. He's acting very strange today, he's usually aloof doesn't want much attention and hates cuddling, but today he's completely opposite. He's refused to get off my lap all day and follows me around the house wailing because he wants to sit on me. Should I be concerned he's being so insistent on attention

A sudden change in behavior from the normal can be a sign of illness. Keep an eye on Texas for tonight, and if he's still acting this way in the morning, have him seen by a vet for a health check. Best of luck.
