My dog has cancer symptoms. Can he still eat and drink normally?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 8 years and 10 months old | 108 lbs

Symptoms, two legs swollen, testicles swollen, 30 lbs lighter than 1.5 yrs ago, constipation for weeks, fistulas as well.. X-ray, and 4 chemical/ blood tests done. Dr said colon cancer but wasn't sure 100% . He was positive about the mass though. Can a dog still eat and drink with cancer. Dr said with that type and location they could. I put him to sleep but now second guessing.

Poor Jake! I'm sorry he's so sick. Yes, even with cancer, a dog can still eat and drink, but as the cancer advances, his appetite will decrease and disappear. You can speak to his vet to discuss if it's time to let him go or not. Again, I'm sorry.
