My dog has had his anal glands expressed twice in the past three weeks. He’s still having blood and seems irritated after having it two days ago. This morning there was still blood. What’s going on with him?

When there is persistent inflammation usually an infection or possibly even a small tumor inside the anal gland tissue is suspected and should be ruled out as soon as possible. A clinical examination at your local veterinarian is essential to confirm these clinical suspicions and treat appropriately. Antibiotics may be needed.
