My female dog's first heat: pink bump near anus. Should I worry?

Hello, my female dog just got her first heat and I noticed while changing her diaper she has a pink small bump coming out of her anus should I be worried?

This lump/growth should be ideally examined by your veterinarian to have a definitive diagnosis. Your vet will examine it and possibly perform with an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy. Differentials would include skin cyst, inflammatory polyp, infections or benign or malignant type of tumors (extremely unlikely given the age).     I wouldn't necessarily be worried, as it would be extremely rare for a puppy her age to have a malignant tumor, but I would have Leia seen by a vet for it. It could be a wart or other type of benign tumor, and any lump on a dog is worth a check with the vet. I would have her seen by a vet in the next couple of days.

Hello. Lumps and bumps can be any number of things including cysts, lipomas, histiocytomas, and tumors of various sizes/shapes/types. If it is involving her muco-cutaneous junction (at the edge of her vulva or her anus) this is more concerning. I would recommend getting it checked by a vet. They will put a needle into it and take a sample, and look at the cells under a microscope. This may give them the answer, or they may need to take a bigger sample. It could also just be a wart or a skin tag. Without seeing it, and ultimately testing the cells, you can't know for sure, I would get it checked by a vet. Good luck with Toots.

Hi my 10 wk old lab pup has a small light pink bump at the end of her tail on her butthole... it's hard to distinguish from her anus but it's definitely a little bump. Should we be worried about this? It hasn't seemed to affect her pooping at all!

Hi, I noticed a few days ago that my dog has a small bump right beside his anus. Pictures attached. What could this be and what would be the possible treatment. I'll be consulting a vet , just wanted a second opinion. Thanks.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be a benign or malignant growth. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. Based on the location, often times these tumors are benign in nature and are known as perianal adenomas though about 10% are malignant and again it could be really any other tumor type. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. My dog has a huge bump near his anus, I've gotten his glands expressed less then a month ago but now there's only one bump and I'm worried it's something bad. Should I get him to a vet asap?

It sounds like her anal gland is impacted, possibly blocked, you will have to take her to the vet to get it emptied. in most cases it's just a matter of squeezing it hard enough but if it is completely blocked it might require a procedure under sedation.
