Why is my cat losing hair, weight, and constantly thirsty?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 6 lbs

Our cat had recently begin losing hair. This patch especially just showed up and as far as we can tell there are no signs of another animal removing the hair. I kept finding clumps everywhere. She also seems to be losing weight. She is thirsty all the time or lathaegic. Please help advise.

Poor Little Sarge. It could be she has a medical condition like hyperthyroidism causing the hair loss as well as the increase in drinking and weight loss, or she could be suffering from something like a skin infection causing the hair loss, and a medical condition like diabetes causing the weight loss and increased thirst. I would take her into the vet for blood work or a urinalysis. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms, and can teat her. I hope this helps!
