My cat has severe hair loss and spreading skin blisters. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 18 lbs

Portifoy has severe hair loss, and a blistering and gouging of his skin that's rapidly spreading. I keep everything the same and hypoallergenic. He doesn't have fleas and hasn't gtten into anything. What could this be? I am scared for him. The picture doesnt even compare to how bad it is.

I recommend taking him to a veterinarian. If he is not on flea prevention I highly recommend using it as you may not always see fleas on cats. It looks like he has a skin infection and needs antibiotics so taking him to a vet is important. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
