My senior dog is anxious and restless. Could it be dementia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 15 years and 9 months old | 63 lbs

We have a German Shorthair/choc lab mix, who is close to 16 years old. He is pretty good health the vet says. He does have what they call fatty tumors on his chest and some down toward stomach. That isnt our issue, he is drives us mentality crazy. He has always been anxious when we leave him. I do daycare and he has always been around them. But, think the they are getting to him(noise). But he wants to be outside then he wants in He will stand in yard and stare. He is driving us goofy.

It could be Moe is suffering from canine cognitive dysfunction, which can cause a sudden change in behavior. I'd have him checked out by a vet, as there may be diet changes and medication that can help you. Take him into a vet today. Best of luck.
