My cat has a nose bump that won't heal. Vets can't diagnose it.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 15 lbs

Has a bump on his nose (subcutaneous fleshy, small) with a sore above it that periodically opens, scabs over, and goes away only to return again. Has been to the doctor repeatedly and they apparently have no clue. He is taking broad spectrum ab, a topical anti fungal drop (the kind for pink eye in humans, starts with T), and is on revolution. Zero change. He is indoor but had this when we got him and we suspect he used to be outdoor. I have no idea what to do other than DEMAND biopsy.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Spenser. I agree that obtaining a biopsy will likely be your best chance at a diagnosis. You can seek a second opinion with a veterinary dermatologist to gain more insight. A fine needle aspirate or an impression may be useful, but are not always diagnostic. I hope this information helps!
