Why does my cat have a fluctuating high fever with no clear cause?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 15 years and 1 month old | 8 lbs

Debil went to vet w 104. 6 temp last Tuesday. fluct from am to pm-every day. now is 105.3-tues pm. has been normal twice. on steroids and antibio. is eating and drinking. good spirits. anemic. always been healthy until 1 yr. vet said flea/tick borne maybe. inside cat but do have catio. feluk neg. lost 1 lb since nov '18. multiple cat home. everybody else ok. cannot find reason for fever. thanks

Fevers in cats are really frustrating. They can have many causes, and sometimes we can’t find any cause at all (Fever of Unknown Origin - FUO). Sometimes IV fluids can help with the fever, and sometimes it will go away in a few days with or without treatment. As long as he is comfortable and eating, I wouldn’t be so concerned. It sounds like your vet has a good plan for treatment.
