Is my new kitten's aggressive biting and scratching normal behavior?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

We just got a new kitten (11 weeks) and he seems to be very aggressive, i.e, biting too hard, using his claws, growling/hissing. I stop playing and sternly say "No." when he bites too hard, but he doesn't seem to listen. Is this normal behavior for a kitten?

This can be very normal behavior for some kittens. You should continue to stop playing when Shade begins to bite and give him an appropriate toy to play with. Make sure you are never using your hands to play. This article has some good information: https://www.hillspet.com/cat-care/play-exercise/aggressive-cat-play
