Why is my 6-year-old dog suddenly afraid of people and her steps?

Hi, my 6-year-old Bassett has started being afraid of people she doesn't know and people she used to love to get pets from. This started a month ago. She is also suddenly scared to use her steps that lead up to my bed, though she has been using them since she was 6months old. Any ideas? Thank you! Pet's info: Dog | Basset Hound | Female | spayed | 7 years and 2 months old | 65 lbs

Poor Beaulla, I would be concerned this new anxiety may be related to pain and discomfort especially around the head and neck or possibly due to vision disturbance or loss of eyesight. A full vet check would be recommended as such complete changes in behavior are unusual and likely to be due to a medical condition
