My dog has inflamed joints, can't walk, and isn't eating. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | neutered | 5 years and 6 months old | 62 lbs

It’s been about to days since I asked a question and it still wasn’t answered... anyways, my dog has inflamed joints in nearly all his legs. He’s not eating, drinking, or going to the bathroom. We’ve been giving him antibiotics and medicine the vet gave us but he’s getting worse. He can’t really stand up on his own not walk. Is there anything I can do to help him? Do you have any idea what would be wrong with him? The vet said he has an inflection and then a sprain. I don’t know what to do.

Poor buddy, he sounds very uncomfortable. This sounds like a very complicated case, especially when it is so severe to affect his appetite also. I would recommend referral to an orthopedic specialist to determine what is causing the pain in his joints, severe infectious or autoimmune arthritis can spread to many joints but can unfortunately be very difficult to treat and manage in the long term
