Why is my cat's ear bleeding after cleaning with no visible injury?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 2.7 lbs

I was cleaning my cat's ears as I usually do twice in a month, it was okay when I did it but after an hour, I went to check on him and I saw one of his ear bleeding. I checked for any kind of visible injury in his ear but there's wasn't any. What could be the cause of this? (PS I can't go to vet because of some reason for like 2 days)

It’s possible that Mellow scratched the inside of his ear after the cleaning even though you can’t see a wound, or if you used a Q tip you may have inadvertently caused bleeding in his ear canal. Occasionally the ear canal can bleed with a severe infection or polyp. If Mellow’s eats seem to be bothering him, if he seems painful, or if the ear continues to bleed you should see your vet.
