My puppy got an unmixed parvo vaccine. Is it safe and effective?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 4 days old | 10 lbs

I bought a puppy pack of vaccine shots for my 3 month old puppy at the local Ag store. I didn't mix the Parainfluenza (vaccine cake) with the Parvovirus liquid). I only administered the Parvovirus (liquid) Will this injure my dog in anyway? And will it still work as a dose of the Parvo vaccine?

No, it won't hurt her. It will still work as a vaccine against parvovirus, but not against parainfluenza. She will need a booster vaccine in about 3 weeks, and make sure she's also getting vaccinated for distemper virus and adenovirus. Thanks for asking Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
