My cat has a face scab and is acting strange. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Burmese | Male | neutered

There is a red/ yellow scab on the side of my cat's face, I think he got it last night and he has been acting strange all day, very quiet, just kind of walking around and lying down. I'm unsure if this was gained from a fight or an infection of some kind and while I think I should bring him to the vet ASAP, people in my house think we should wait a few days and see if he gets any better. So if anyone knows, is this dangerous? Is this something I should be worried about and bring him immediately?

If Rubarb just had the scab, I would say wait a few days, but given that he's been acting strange all day, I think he should see a vet asap. I would be concerned he could have been injured or gotten into a fight, and it's best he sees a vet now. Please take him into one immediately. Best of luck.
