Dog ate macadamia nuts and granola bars. Should I be concerned?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Brittany | Male | neutered | 45 lbs

My dog (45lb 12yr old Brittany mix) at 2 granola bars, one had macadamia nuts (1.7oz Luna white chocolate macadamia bar) - about 2-4hrs ago. I gave him 4tsp peroxide then 2tsp more (I think he got most of it down) about an hour ago, gave him lots if water and ran around too - no vomiting. Should I be concerned?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Based on Nova’s size and what he ate, I would not be concerned. I would not give any more hydrogen peroxide either. I recommend feeding him a normal meal and ensuring he has plenty of access to water. I hope this is helpful!
