My kitten is still sick with fever and panting. Is she in heat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 7 months and 18 days old | 7 lbs

A month ago kitten became lethargic would start panting like a dog and had fever. The vet said it's bacterial infection. Gave liquid antibiotic Clivet for five days. No improvement. Then gave DOXYPET 100 (30mg) for 20 days. She looked better but still not active as before would start to pant after playing too much. Got fever twice during the 20 days. Now she has signs of being in heat. She's 6.5 months old. Still has fever and really fast pulse n breathing rate. Also hairfall. Not sure it's heat

The postures in the photos do indeed look like she is in heat currently but they do not explain the fever, panting or high heart rate. Given it has not responded to medication so far, further investigation with a chest xray and blood work to assess for infection or inflammation may be worthwhile. I would not recommend breeding her given her current symptoms as pregnancy would be an additional strain and any heart or lung condition
