Can my pug take enrofloxacin long-term for ear infection & pyritinol?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | unneutered | 10 years and 1 month old | 27 lbs

My 12.200kg pug stopped hearing and his canals were swollen after wrong drops were prescribed to him for ear infection. He is on half 150mg enrofloxacin once for the past 11 days and doing great. He can now hear everything but vet advised to continue till 20days. Is it ok to give enrofloxacin for so many days?He also advised 2.5ml twice pyritinol 100mg/5ml syrup.Should I give it too?He has severe arthritis & enlarged heart.Thank you.

Yes, it is absolutely fine to give this antibiotic for so long, in fact for this type of condition it must be given for at least 3 weeks. regarding the pyritinol if your vet prescribed it you should give it to him too.
