Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | 2 years and 11 months old | 57 lbs
My dog tried to jump over hedges to get to a cat, and slipped when he couldn’t get over. He favored his back leg for a moment, but we finished our walk. When I got him he got out of his crate and kept his leg off the ground for about 30-40 seconds before he put it down again. He’s moving fine now, played ball fine. But what can I do to check him out to make sure he’s okay and doesn’t get worse?

There’s not much to do other than monitor Howl (adorable name!) for continued limping. It can be difficult for veterinarians to localize pain so I wouldn’t really bother trying to perform any kind of exam at home. If limping continues for more than 24 hours or if Howl won’t put any weight on the leg you should see your vet. It would be a good idea to restrict activity to short leashed walks only for the next 3-5 days just in case.
