my dog has been unsuccessfully trying to poop the last 10 hours but had pooped a large soft stool about 12 hours ago. Pet's info: Dog | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Male | unneutered | 6 years and 4 months old | 18 lbs

It is possible that there is no more stool in the colon because the soft poop was the precursor to diarrhea.
