My dog has bumps on her head and a dark belly. Is it an allergy?

Two days ago my dog suddenly has bumps all over her head and sides of face they don’t seem itchy but they won’t go away and there aren’t any anywhere else on her, also her pink belly is suddenly dark brown. Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | spayed | 7 years and 5 months old | 96 lbs

Hello. Vegas is having a pretty significant allergic reaction to something. It could be something she ate, touched, inhaled, or was bitten or stung by. The hives will probably go down on their own, but the discoloration in her groin is the result of Vegas licking & chewing her skin. This will probably not just go away by itself, & may get worse. This is not a life-threatening situation & there are many things that can be done to help her. Until you can have Vegas seen by your veterinarian, you can bathe her in a mild oatmeal based shampoo using cool water. You can start her on a fish oil supplement & at her weight, you can give her 1000-1200 mg twice a day. Once her allergies are under control, the hives should completely disappear & her pink skin should return. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
