How to collect and store a puppy diarrhea sample for the vet visit?

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd - miniature | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 10 days old

I asked yesterday about my puppies diarrhea yesterday and when the vet answered they said to bring in a sample so they can test it.. do I just put it in a baggie and how soon do I get it there?? How long is the sample good for at room temp? Thank you

Fresher is always better for accuracy. At room temperature, bacteria may multiply or the sample may degrade in as little as a few hours. You can use a small, leak-proof plastic bag or ask clinic staff for a container to collect a small sample. Only about a teaspoon is needed.
