How to collect and store a puppy diarrhea sample for the vet visit?

I asked yesterday about my puppies diarrhea yesterday and when the vet answered they said to bring in a sample so they can test it.. do I just put it in a baggie and how soon do I get it there?? How long is the sample good for at room temp? Thank you. Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd - miniature | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 10 days old

Fresher is always better for accuracy. At room temperature, bacteria may multiply or the sample may degrade in as little as a few hours. You can use a small, leak-proof plastic bag or ask clinic staff for a container to collect a small sample. Only about a teaspoon is needed.
