My puppy beat parvo! Is reinfection possible? When can she play?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 8 days old | 15 lbs

My puppy has recovered from being infected with parvo virus. Is she at risk of reinfection? We did all of her treatment at home and we are getting the carpet replaced in 2 weeks. I just know if i let her out of her quarantine area she could most likely come in contact with the virus again. I just feel bad because she wants to come out and play!

Yes she can now go out and play. She should have immunity from another infection of the same strain of parvovirus. If she's healthy now I would have her vaccinated against it just to give her the most protection. She should have another booster again in 3-4 weeks. You've done a good job getting her over this deadly infection. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Birdie.
