Why is my baby rabbit's urine leaving white powdery residue?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered

My baby rabbit was undergoing treatment for paw injury due to falling from a height. The medication prescribed by the vet was metaflam 0.3ml once a day for three days and tiyacal for 30 days once a day. His diet mainly consists of coriander, banana, sometimes carrots. Tried introducing other fruits abd vegetables but he refuses to eat them. His urine leaves a white powdery residue after drying. Is it Normal? Please advice.

Booboo should be eating mainly timothy hay, oat hay or similar grasses. Rabbits need a high fiber diet. If he is less than 7 months old, you can also feed alfalfa. If he is older than 7 months, do not feed alfalfa. You can supplement with a small amount of commercial pellets, no more than 1/8 cup daily. Coriander is high in calcium which may be why you are seeing the residue in his urine. It should be fed only once or twice weekly and in small amounts, not as a staple.
