What flea diseases cause cat lethargy, fever, and anemia symptoms?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 months and 4 days old

My cat is not eating kibble(he eats little wet food), lethargic, experiencing fever and has dark solid stool. Took him to the vet. Besides medicine, he was given something for his appetite and fleas. The vet mentioned about blood/circulation and flea disease. I have to look out for jaundice too. I need help finding out the name of the disease so that I can look it up. I forgot what it was called and the clinic is closed for a few days so I'm unable to ask the vet atm. Thank you!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. There are several diseases that you can see transmitted from fleas to cats. Tapeworm, Tularemia, Feline infectious anemia, Cat scratch disease and anemia to name the most commonly seen.
