My unneutered dog is limping and can't get up. Is it related to neutering?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 50 lbs

Why is my dog limping and it’s hard for him to get up and walk around and he hasn’t been neutered does that have anything to do with it.

Poor Oreo! He may be limping due to trauma resulting in a fracture or sprain, back issues, or nerve damage. Unneutered dogs are more likely have certain infections that cause infection of the vertebra and prostate enlargement which can cause discomfort, but it is not certain that this is related to the limping. I recommend having Oreo seen by a vet as soon as possible for x-rays to determine if there are any fractures and appropriate treatment. I hope all is well and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
