What illnesses cause blood in the stool? Why would a dog have a seizure from this?

There are a number of illness that can cause a dog to have blood in the stool, such as parvovirus, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, GI tumors, trauma or a foreign body in the GI tract, GI ulcers, or ingesting something toxic. If your dog ate something toxic or has GI tumors that have spread, those could certainly lead to seizures. The only way to know for sure what is causing blood in the stool and seizures is to have your dog seen by a vet, and I recommend having it seen asap. Best of lucK!

It sounds like seizure activity to me. Not all seizures are grand mal where the dog falls over and starts paddling. I suggest you get him back to the vet for a follow-up and discuss putting him on some anti-seizure medication. Occasionally severe pain can cause these types of symptoms. It is possible that the gallstones may be causing him some random pain. Most often though, gallstones do not cause any problems in dogs like they do in people. Again, talk to your vet about your options.

My bruno ,vomitted three times along with one attack of sezeiur before two days ,vet gave medicines and advice to give the food with egg thn he become ok but today we observe little blood in his stool, is there any problem in GI or we need to observe

Vomiting and bloody stools can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. If he is having seizures that make this very serious as this is possibly unrelated and could be seen with conditions such as low blood sugar from vomiting, brain inflammation, epilepsy, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Bruno evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics and possibly an MRI. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration. We have multiple dogs and we feed some on the IAMS brand and the others on Beneful. All the dogs that eat IAMS have started throwing up and one has bloody stools. what is happening and what do i do.
Vomiting and bloody stool could be caused by toxin ingestion, parasites, change in diet, toxin ingestion, infectious viral diseases, blockage in the gastrointestinal tract caused by ingestion of a foreign body, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. Please have your dogs seen by a veterinarian right away, as bloody diarrhea can be a sign of a more serious issue, can lead to dehydration and anemia, and can be very dangerous if left untreated. I recommend taking in fecal samples from your dogs and explaining the feeding differences to your vet as well, as that may aid them in making a diagnosis. Good luck!

My sons dog is 13 years old and has never been vaccinated, he is have lots of blood in his stool. What could that indicate?
Blood in faeces can be due to many disorders. It can be due to inflammation due to eating something off, ranging all the way to more serious issues such as tumours of the gut. Due to the many possibilities it is imperative to have the dog examined by a vet. This is the quickest and most reliable way to get to the bottom of what is going on. Hopefully it will be something fairly straightforward.

Unfortunately, without an exam and thorough workup it would be hard to say why she is vomiting blood or having strange stools as this is a very vague symptom of many different issues. If she's eating leaves of certain plants, they may be toxic or causing ulcers in the GI tract which is leading to issues. Parasites, illnesses, injuries, obstructions, underlying health conditions and more can also cause blood in the vomit or stool, and need to be checked out in person. Complete bloodwork from a local vet, a stool sample test, and X-rays of the abdomen can help narrow down potential causes.

Have an 8 year old female boxer we got home and she had a bloody loose bowel movement , does not appear in any pain and no loss of appetite any ideas?
Pets can get bloody stool for many reasons and this could range from a severe bacterial imbalance to a foreign object making its way through the intestines. When blood is in the stool, it is more concerning for a severe cause of diarrhea and is always a reason to see the veterinarian. Hi there. I'm sorry to hear that Luna is having this problem. There are many different things that can cause seizures - it's certainly possible that she may have epilepsy, but other possible causes would include a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, a central nervous system problem such as meningitis or a brain tumor, or exposure to some type of toxin. Bloody diarrhea is not a sign of epilepsy and is not normally associated with seizures in general, so this may be a separate problem. I would recommend taking Luna to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to. He/she can do a complete neurologic exam and may also recommend blood work or other testing if needed to help determine what is causing her seizures. If she does have epilepsy, your veterinarian can prescribe medication to help control her seizures.

My puppy that was diagnosed with CPV-2, today wasn't very well at first. It hadn't start vomiting or having diarrhoea&only today "pooped" blood along with some mucus just once 10 minutes after I started administering fluids subcutaneously. I thought
I would notify your vet that she had a possible seizure first. Then I would try to make sure she has a consistent source of food or sugar to keep her glucose levels steady, in case that was the cause for her seizure. If you see the event happen again then it's best to record it so that your vet can see what is happening and classify the event correctly. Continue to give her fluids and other medicaitons as instructed by your veterinarian, unless possible seizure can be a side effect of one of her medicaitons (i.e. metronidazole). If your puppy is a small or you breed dog then she is at risk for hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), so it's important to give her nutrical, Karo syrup or honey (1 tsp) every 4-6 hrs if she hasn't gained her appetite back yet. Once she starts to eat on her own then discuss with your vet how often she should get the sugar source, if at all. I hope that your pup survives her CPV infection. Best wishes and take care.

House was broken into last night he was in his room so I didn't think the people messed with him but he has Dirrehea with blood spots and vomited three times in the last 8hrs can't hold down food.
Vomiting with bloody diarrhea is a situation which requires veterinary attention. You don't mention the age of your dog but parvovirus would be a possibility in a younger dog. Other possible causes would include severe GI parasitism, gastroenteritis, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, ingestion of a foreign object, and inflammatory bowel disease. With a combination of vomiting and blood diarrhea your dog can become dehydrated quickly, so a vet visit is recommended ASAP. They may test your dog's stool sample and take an x-ray to help determine the cause of his symptoms.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Bloody urine can have a number of different causes. It can be due to a problem in the urinary tract-- such as a severe urinary tract infection, bladder stones, or a bladder tumor. Those things may also cause her to urinate frequently in small amounts and/or strain to urinate (but not necessarily). It could also be a problem higher up in her urinary tract--in her ureters (tube from kidney to bladder) or in her kidneys-- again an infection, stone or tumor. The other potential cause of seeing blood in the urine is if she isn't able to form a blood clot properly. If her blood platelets or clotting factors are low or are not working correctly, bleeding can occur within the bladder (or anywhere in the body--bruising under the skin, bleeding around the gums, blood in the stool, bloody nose, blood in the eyes).
