Can a dog receive lung problems from being in cold lake water?

It would not be from the temperature of the lake water but more likely if she aspirated some water into her lungs, or if the water was contaminated. She may have gotten a cold or upper respiratory infection from being stressed. If she's coughing and not eating I recommend a veterinary exam. She may have bronchitis that will heal more quickly with rest and antibiotics. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Shadow.
