Should I deworm my 4-week-old puppy at home? What shots are needed?

Should I deworm my 4 week old puppy myself or go to the vet ? & how should I do this , if I’m the one to do so . & what shots does he need ? I’m a little confused

You can deworm him at home if you have a puppy dewormer, the instructions will be written on the dewormer label. regarding vaccinations he will need the 6 in 1 vaccination course (or similar), the course of vaccination is usually 3 shots 2-4 weeks apart, the first vaccination should be given at the age of 8 weeks. after the course of vaccination is done Benji will also need to be vaccinated against rabies one time.

    He should have been dewormed already, vaccinated as well, so if you have not done any of those it would be a good time to take him to the vet first thing. Training can usually be started from the age of 3 months.

    Great questions! You can deworm Bruno now, but he won’t be old enough for his first vaccines until he is six weeks of age. You can register him with a vet now, and take him in to get deworming medication.

Vaccines can start around 6-7 weeks of age and should be boosted every 4 weeks until 16 weeks of age. Discuss an appropriate vaccination protocol based on Snoopy's lifestyle and risk of exposure with your veterinarian. Snoopy should be kept away from public places and dogs of unknown vaccine status until about 2 weeks after his last round of vaccines. Deworming can start now and should be done every 2 weeks until 12 weeks of age. Transition to a monthly preventative afterwards. Why is it important to complete first atleast 3 times of deworming before applying 5in1 vaccine?
A puppy must be 6 weeks before receiving his first dose of vaccines as the antibodies from their mom's milk is in their system and will not allow an immune response to the vaccine any earlier than that. Dewormers are usually safe to give before 6 weeks so some breeder choose to give them before 6 weeks of age, but they don't necessarily NEED a dewormer before than can receive the vaccine.

Hi there! Since Mocha is six weeks old, he should go ahead and start his vaccinations now. He will need a DAPP vaccine (for distemper, adenovirus, parvo, and parainfluenza) now - this vaccine will also need to be boostered every 3 weeks until he is 16 weeks or older. He will also need a rabies vaccine anytime after 12 weeks of age. Depending on his lifestyle and what diseases are prevalent in your area, he may also need to be vaccinated against Bordetelle (kennel cough), leptospirosis, and/or Lyme disease. Your veterinarian can discuss the risks of these illnesses in your area and help you make this decision. And yes, he should also be dewormed. You can use a broad-spectrum dewormer like Strongid or Panacur from the pet store, or get a prescription dewormer from your vet's office if you prefer.

It is safe to give the worming treatment now to Izzie, and it can be down at home. Most pet stores will sell a broad spectrum worming treatment. However, the best and most effective medications are provided by your veterinarian. Who can also analyse a fecal sample and tell you exactly what type of worms Izzie has. Your vet will give your dog medicine by mouth or in a shot to kill the worms. Many of these drugs are described as “broad-spectrum,” because they're good for treating a wide range of parasites, including worms that live in the gut. They're poisonous to pests, but safe for pets. Usually the first worming treatment is given at the time of the first vaccines.

My breeder has never dewormed nor vaccinated my puppy. How do I start with its health.
First, have her examined by your veterinarian. He or she can administer or dispense a dewormer. It will likely need to be repeated in 2 and 4 weeks. Afterwards, start her on a monthly preventative for heartworm and intestinal parasites. A topical or oral flea and tick preventative can also be started. Discuss with the vet what Cherry's lifestyle will be. This will determine which vaccines she will get. Core vaccines include distemper/parvo combination and Rabies vaccines. She will need 3-4 distemper/parvo vaccine every 4 weeks. The rabies vaccine she can get now. It will be repeated next year, then every 3 years. Lifestyle vaccines include Lyme disease, leptospirosis, canine flu and bordatella (kennel cough). These are given based on her risk of exposure. You can discuss their use with your veterinarian. She can be spayed at about 6 months of age.

I just got a puppy pit bull that’s only 5 weeks old, I got him given to me at 4 1/2 weeks he was neglected so I saved him from where he was. I want to get him in for shots and deworming ASAP. Can I get them before 8 weeks old? Or even before 6 weeks
Congratulations on your new puppy. At his young age, he can go to the veterinarian for a wellness exam to make sure everything looks okay and he could receive his first deworming treatment. Most veterinarians would recommend waiting to give the first vaccination at 6-7 weeks. If you have any concerns about him including diet due to his very young age, I would take him right away for his first exam and deworming, if he is eating well with no issues, you could wait and take him at 6 weeks for the deworming and vaccine to be done at the same time. Hello its regarding stray dogs.. There r 2 pups born in my locality, maybe around 2 months old.. When should i give them anti rabbies shots and deworming?
Great question! And may I say how lovely of you to give them deworming treatments and giving them vaccines. They can have their deworming treatments now, and their first rabies vaccine at 12 weeks. They will need a booster of the rabies at 16 weeks of age. I would recommend vaccinating them now with a DHPPi (distemper, parvo, parainfluenza, hepatitis) combination shot. They will need a second booster of that in four weeks after the first shot, and a third booster four weeks after the second shot.

hi, i have a schnoodle breed of dog, she is a year old and is expecting puppies any day know, so my question is when the puppies come, what shots do we need to get them and how old should the puppies be when they get them
We recommend vaccinations start at 8 weeks of age starting with a distemper/parvo combination. A booster is required at 12 & 16 weeks. But even more important is to begin deworming at about 2 weeks of age & repeating the wormer every 2 weeks until weaning. You can just use pyrantal pamoate for the pups. Hope all goes very well. We got Mya about a month ago, and it turns out the person we got her from didn't give her any treatments or vaccines. We gave her her first shot 8/23/17 along with deworming medication. As far as we know we have 4 more shots to give her but is there
You can repeat the deworm after 2 weeks. If there was a heavy worm burden then it may not have gotten them all. Also, make sure your dewormer has praziquantel to cover tapeworms--they get these from eating a flea. Her vaccines will be due every 3 weeks until she is 16 weeks old. A veterinarian has to administer the rabies vaccines typically between 12-16 weeks of age depending on your state laws and the size of the puppy. You vet can also do a health exam to make sure everything is normal at this time.
