My pug puppy's eyes are dark. Is dark sclera normal for pugs?

Hello guys! Is it ok for my pug puppy to have darker sclera? Not bloody doesnt seem like a injury doesnt bother him just darker thank you!

This is quite common with pugs and I don't see anything concerning in the picture provided. Signs of a significant problem causing the sclera to be darker or injected would be excessive eye discharge, swelling around the eyes and scratching at the eyes. Considering you haven't noticed any of these problems, I would consider this normal and not a concern. If you happen to notice any of the above-mentioned problems, then it would be best to have a vet evaluate him. I hope that helps and all is well with Marcelino.

    Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It may very well be normal coloration for Marcellno. However, I would point it out at his next puppy visit to make sure his vet can doesn't see any abnormalities. Dark pigmentation can be a sign of chronic irritation, so it is very important to keep watch on a pug's eyes as they can be prone to ocular problems. And he is absolutely adorable!
