My cat's kittens died. How do I care for her teats and ensure she's okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year old | 15 lbs

My cat has given birth and all of her kittens have died (Within a few hours). Am I supposed to give my cat different care? What do I do about her teats? She will not be able to get rid of the milk because the babies have passed away. Will my cat be okay?

Your cat will be ok. Do not manipulate the teats. She will dry up within a short time. Feed her normally and do not withhold water. If your cat should get lethargic or stop eating or drinking she will need to be seen by a vet.
