When do puppies lose parvo immunity and need their first vaccine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

What is the absolute youngest a newborn puppy is no longer immune to parvo? My doggo had a litter of puppies a week ago and unfortunately we have the CPV in our yard. When will they be able to catch parvo? What age should we vaccinate them?

If the mother dog was vaccinated recently she will pass on maternal antibiotics that will protect the puppies. You can start their vaccinations at six weeks and I recommend boosters every three weeks until they are 15 weeks old. That will protect then as the mother’s antibodies wear off.
