My chihuahua has diarrhea and yelps from pain. Can I treat it at home?

My chihuahua, only a couple of years old, sometimes has diarrhea. She also will randomly start running around and yelping in pain. What might be wrong with her? Do I need to take her in for tests or could it be something I could take care of at home? Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 10 lbs

Poor Peanut. She could be having stomach cramps which are causing her to run around and yelp. You could try to feed her some plain boneless, skinless chicken and white rice to see if this settles her tummy. If she isn't improving or constantly yelping, I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet will be able to figure out the main problem(s) and get her started on the proper meds!
