My dog won't eat, is panting, drooling, restless, and seems in pain.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | 3 years and 7 months old | 34 lbs

My dog is 3 year old black and female. She's refused food for a whole day drinks minimum water. Barely moves, panting heavily and occasionally drools. She seems like she's searching for something and is very restless. She also raises her head and her back is cutter in..... this is not her normal posture... She also lacks all of her usual energy.

I'm sorry to hear that Lucky is not feeling well. She appears to be painful in your pictures. She could be experiencing abdominal or even back pain. She will need to see a veterinarian for a thorough examination to determine if she is in fact painful and if so, where she hurts. This will guide treatment for her. In the meantime, continue to offer small amounts of water and food. I hope this information helps!

Your dog may be suffering from a very painful pancreatitis or gastritis. As she is apparently distressed and not eating anymore, and in pain (panting is a sign of this) this is an emergency now and she needs to be seen by a veterinarian or at a pet ER. She could also be suffering from a gastric torsion. Pleas call your vet office. There will be emergenccy information on the answering machine.
