Why does my unneutered dog pee and poop everywhere outside?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 2 months old

Hi, I'm a 14 years old dog owner. So every time I take my dog outside he goes crazy like he doesn't know where he go and he poops EVERYWHERE and pees EVERYWHERE, I don't know why his being like this. As a kid I don't have much time for him like we don't get together all the time, so I don't know what's happening to him. Wish you could help.

With Felix not being neutered, this could be the cause of him urinating and pooping everywhere outside. If this is new behavior and came on suddenly, then he could be suffering from something else like an urinary tract infection. Or if your schedule just recently changed and you used to be able to spend more time with him, then this could also be behavioral. If he doesn't improve or worsens, I would consider getting him seen by a vet and possibly neutered to see if this helps.

Dogs are often excited about going outdoors and will often choose multiple places to urinate and defecate. This is usually enhanced when they are intact/ not neutered. It is one of the ways they mark their territory. Especially if another dog, cat, raccoon, or other animal has been in the yard. I hope this helps answer your question. I don’t think this is a behavior “problem” that needs fixing, it seems like normal dog behavior to me. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
