There are many many reasons dogs display aggression. Anxiety, fear, territorial aggression, and possessive aggression are just a few of the common possibilities. I would recommend avoiding any situation in which Jake has had dog fights starting immediately (ie. no walks if on a leash, separate dogs in the house if it was a housemate) and scheduling an appointment with your vet right away to discuss the issue.
