Cat spay stitches not gone, stomach swollen. Is it an infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 7.71 lbs

Actually what happened was my cat went through a spaying operation in December and the doctor said that the cat removes the stitches herself its been a lot of time but she hasn't removed the stitches yet even the hair which was trimmed grew back. There has also been a swelling near her stomach. Im really worried she's suffering from some infections. Please revert back as soon as possible. She's not feeling any pain but I'm scared that there might be internal swelling!

If Juju still has sutures that you can see, I would recommend a vet visit to have them clipped and removed. This is not an emergency and does not require any sedation. Give your vet a call tomorrow to schedule a recheck appointment.
