Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | 1 year old

Hello everyone! I hope this message finds you well. My shih tzu, Cookie she's a princess type, she just turned 1 year old (human years) yesterday and she just stopped eating. Even if we give her a big patty of burger (which is her ultimate favorite) she still ignores it. She suddenly ignores us and sleeps and when we start whistling, she will jerks out of bed but now she's not. Things you need to know about her. -Cookie doesn't have period yet -Shes very lively and happy dog She hasn't poop yet

Cookie is quite the cutie! I'm sorry she's feeling a bit off. With those very general symptoms, I would recommend keeping an eye on her and taking her to the vet tomorrow if she doesn't go back to normal. If she started vomiting, has white gums, doesn't want to move around at all, or seems uncomfortable, then I would recommend taking her to an emergency clinic for evaluation. I hope she goes back to normal soon! Let me know if that was helpful information and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

I am sorry to hear that Broadway isn't feeling well. Your instincts are right in that this is cause for concern. If she is acting weak or tired and is not eating or drinking, she needs to be evaluated today. They will perform and exam and may recommend running blood work as well, and will ask you if there are any factors that have changed since she started acting sick-- has there been any trauma, any possible toxin exposure, what symptom did you notice first and how long ago, etc. Good luck with her, I hope you can get some answers and get her feeling better soon.
