My puppy has diarrhea. Can I still give him Heartguard and Nexguard?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 3 months old | 80 lbs

Our 9 week old is suppose to start Heartguard and Nexguard today for the first time. He’s had some diarrhea off and on the last few days. We switched his food from Iams to Fromm and have noticed a huge difference. His stool is still a greenish Brown and soft but has consistency. Do I need to wait until his stools are completely back to 100% or wait 24 hours of being diarrhea free before I give him Heartguard and Nexguard? Or can he have it now?

As long as he’s eating and feeling fine then go ahead and give the Heartgard. Wait another day to give the Nexguard just incase giving both at the same time could upset his stomach. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Charlie.
