Why is my dog biting her back after grooming? How can I stop it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog is a miniature poodle. And she recently went to the groomer last sunday. And she came back a change dog she has been shaking and having some trust issues she just wants to lay down and don't want to play. Today I notice that she had blood on her back and looks like she did it on herself like she was bitting herself. I treated it with Neosporin. But why is my dog acting like that and how can I stop her from bitting herself?

I don't know why your dog is acting this way. If she is biting her back she may have an injury or irritation from the grooming that is causing her trouble. I suggest you get her to your vet for an exam as this is not normal behavior for her. The only way to stop the biting is to get her an E-collar (cone) or put a small T-shirt on her to cover the area on her back that is bothering her.
