Is my 9-week-old Labrador puppy's green diarrhea with mucus normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 2 months and 30 days old | 80 lbs

Our 9 week old Labrador is having dark green loose diarrhea stools with some mucus. It has been off and on for a few days now. We have caught him eating mud and grass. He has been playing, eating, and drinking as usual. No other symptoms. Is this normal?

Since Charlie has been having abnormal stools for more than 2-3 days, I think medical intervention is needed at this time. I would be concerned about intestinal parasites and possibly parvovirus since he is so young and not fully vaccinated yet. I would recommend taking Charlie in to your vet and bringing a sample of his stool with you to be tested. Hopefully nothing too serious is going on but because he is so young it is better to make sure he is healthy. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck!
