Why does my dog keep taking a puppy out of the whelping box?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 3 months old | 59 lbs

My dog’s pups are 12 days old suddenly for 2 days she started to take a female pup and put her out of the box on the floor that is cold for her i though she is going to die and leave her but she didn’t she feeds her when i get her back in the box cleans her and this female is the strongest female and her size is like the males big head and body she is one of the strongest pups in the litter and she is healthy what i can do and why she is doing this

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Sometimes the behavior of the mother is hard to understand and honestly, I can’t explain what Soska is doing. But what’s important is that she will still feed and care for this pup. I would advise you continue to keep putting her back in the box with Soska as much as you can. Hang in there and in about a week, it will be time to start offering canned puppy food anyways and they will be better able to regulate their own temperature.
