My dog has diarrhea and weird rear discharge. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 years and 2 months old | 107 lbs

I noticed that our dog look like he had a runny stool but when I noticed his rear end it looks like it's got like a pest type a substance coming out of it along with the runny discharge of the diarrhea is that anything to be concerned about

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You are likely describing anal sac fluid which is normal to be excreted. Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Goose evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may choose to check for parasites and to start medications for diarrhea depending on the results. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
