Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

I rescued a feral cat who seems really happy living with us and my other 2 cats. i think he has hyperthyroidism among probably other systemic problems as he is obviously very old. i would guess about 13 or so. but now he is sooo skinny and becomin agressive in hunting for food in the trash from us and the other cats. is he suffering even though i feed him extra throughout the day. i cannot afford the bloodwork or treatment plus he is so old. is he suffering?? i feed him about 4 times/day (2 cans

It sounds like Rabbit may have hyperthyroidism. Unfortunately I do recommend blood work and treatment. There are plenty of low cost clinics in the US that may be able to help you and in your budget. Here is a website that has different nonprofits and companies that may be able to help. http://pawbark.com/financial-help-veterinary-care-costs/ If you could not afford veterinary care I tell people to see how they are doing at home. If they aren't doing things they love they may be unhappy or not feeling well. I don't think I would call him suffering right now but he may not be feeling good. Thank you for using PetCoach.
