Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My cat is pregnant, had one last night at 7:30 it is 1:00pm the next day and still no more kittens. She is acting normal, eating, drinking and caring for the one kitten but it feels like there are more. What should I do? No blood, no smell

Hi and thank you for using petcoach. I would recommend a vet visit for Josephine to assess for other kittens. A cat should have all kittens within 6-8 hours, and while possible, it is rare for there to only be one kitten in a litter. The veterinarian may recommend ultrasound or radiographs (x-rays) to assess for other kittens. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=1738 Best of luck to Josephine and her kitten(s).

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Lely may not have anymore kittens. Cats can delay labor for up to 24 hrs and especially if stressed. Be sure she is in a quiet room, keep extra people out, do not allow other animals in and only check in her every 2-3 hours. I would consider scheduling an appointment with your Vet for an X-ray to see if there are anymore left inside her uterus. I wish you and Lely the best!
