Why is my cat crying and obsessed with small spaces after being stuck?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 9 months and 28 days old | 7 lbs

My cat got stuck under my tub in a hole in the installation. She was in the floor of the house for over 24 hours. We couldn't find her. I finally did this morning and now all she does is cry and want back in the hole or any small space. Even vents. She won't stop. Any idea why she's crying? I got her to drink water and eat a little but all she is focused on is that hole and any small space. She's normally very content just laying around.

Hello. This was a very stressful event for autumn, so I would give her another 24 hours to see if she calms down. If she is still obviously agitated, I would recommend a visit to your vet. She may have ingested something while under the floorboards, or there may actually be something going that made her go down the hole in the first place - curiosity aside. Going without food & water for 24 hours should not be a significant event for her. She may just be interested in whatever is down the hole. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
