Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 1 year old | 55 lbs

Hi Petco Pet Education Center, we just neutered our 1 yo male lab. He seems so exhausted after the operation and as an always hungry dog he is, he refuses food. although I think it’s normal, I would like to be sure about 3 questions. 1. How long he will refuse foods/ not eating enough and being inactive? 2. Should we give him antibiotics in any case? 3.He is moaning often since he is back home, is he still suffer the pain physically or he is sad emotionally? he can still walking slowly. thank you so much!!!!!

Thank you for posting this question! Males are typically feeling pretty good and eating within 12 hours or so if being home ( i.e. the next morning). They may be sore for a few days (hopefully he was sent home with pain medications), but are typically wanting to be more active then we want them to be by day 3 or 4. If he is not eating within 12 hours or so if being home then please call your veterinarian. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
