My dog gets congested after walks in our new state. Is it allergies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 6 months and 29 days old | 20 lbs

Persephone gets congested a lot, especially afrer going on walks. After a while, the congestion calms down. There is no cough or other accompanying symptoms. She is eating and everything else completely normally. This only started after we moved to a new state. Does she just have allergies? The congestion doesn't obstruct her breathing or anything.

Dogs do get allergies, however they tend to express them more as dermatology issues than respiratory issues. If your dog continues to have these issues I would consider seeing your local veterinarian. It could be a change in environment (altitude, etc) that is affecting you pet, or it could be something more serious.
