My dog was attacked, now vomiting and pooping blood. ER visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Labrador | Male | unneutered | 90 lbs

My dog was attacked by another dog two days ago, and lost part of his ear, we had a vet come and look at him and we’ve been squeezing out the puss, giving him antibiotics, and pain medicine. But tonight he started pooping blood and throwing up. Will he be okay until morning? or should I try to find a pet Er?

It's best to take him to the ER, but it's possible that this can wait until tomorrow morning. I would need more information to make this call and you may consider having an online consult with one of our vets on Petcoach. This way, you can send unlimited pictures and have a text conversation with a vet. I worry about this being a sign of a reaction to the medications, so I would at-least stop giving medication until you can talk with your vet. Below is a link to an article that should be helpful for determining if this is serious enough for an ER visit. https://www.petcoach.co/article/diarrhea-vomiting-in-dogs-when-to-call-your-veterinarian/ I hope that helps and poor Marley gets better soon.
