My 6-month-old beagle puppy looks thin but gains weight. Ideal weight?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 29 days old | 53.7 lbs

So my dog is 6 months old. He seems to be gaining weight but looks pretty thin. He is an active dog. Is this all normal. Also what should be the ideal weight for beagle puppies his age.

I recommend googling Purina body condition scoring chart to determine if Aura is too thin. A score of 4-5/9 is ideal with ribs palpable with minimal or no excess fat covering, a waist easily noted when viewed from above and an abdominal tuck is evident from the side. Puppies should usually be on a puppy chow until 11-12 months of age. Good luck!
